Day 35 – Ford

As I mentioned yesterday, we had an oil change scheduled at Ford in Anchorage today. Before dropping off the truck, we made a Costco run and stopped at Fred Meyer. Then we took the groceries back to the Airstream. Braxton decided he’d rather have some “alone time” than go to Ford with his parents. I guess we didn’t make it sound fun enough for him.

We dropped off the truck at Ford, then got an Uber to Glacier Brewhouse for lunch. I enjoyed the IPA I ordered and we shared the soft pretzel and cheese as an appetizer. We also shared the salmon BLT salad. For dessert we got the doughnuts. All the food was really good here. This was one of those restaurants where everything on the menu sounded delicious and the staff was very nice, too. After finishing lunch, we got an Uber back to Ford to get the truck.

When we got to Ford, the lady who checked us out was clearly having a rough day. Before we left we gave her a Dagger Falls IPA from Sockeye Brewing (we have been handing them out along our trip to give folks a taste of Idaho). It turned her frown upside down and hopefully gave her something to look forward to if she survived the day.

This afternoon we took a walk down to the river where we saw a bunch of locals fly fishing. They were all lined up along the shore, people of all different ages. The sun was even out!

Tomorrow we have what Google says is a five and half hour drive to Tok. However, Google doesn’t take into account all the frost heaves. With a trailer, it’s going to take us most of the day. Wish us luck!
