What a beautiful morning!! At Caribou RV Park they have a menu of pastries and baked goods you can order from the night before and they have them ready for you the following morning. We ordered the breakfast basket they offered and an extra baguette (for Braxton).

We had some nerves when hitching this morning but, thanks to Braxton’s cleaning and relubing of the hitch yesterday, hitching went off without, well – a hitch…. It worked perfectly. Just as we were leaving our space at the RV Resort, the nice couple from Colorado we met last night who also have an Airstream stopped by with well wishes. We actually made plans to meet up in Skagway for dinner. We wanted to fill up the tank so we would for sure have enough gas to get to Skagway, but alas… the internet was still down and we still didn’t have any Canadian cash since the ATMs were still down, too. Fingers crossed that we have enough gas to get us over that huge mountain, then we can just roll into town.
On the drive to Skagway, we stopped at some great overlooks and saw some amazing scenery. At one of the overlooks, a couple from B.C. , who was staying at the RV Resort from where we had just come, stopped by to chat. They also have an Airstream and had seen us at the resort and just wanted to stop and say hi. They have a vintage Airstream and did some remodeling to it to better suit their needs and refresh it a bit after it’s many years of giving others great adventures.

The road to Skagway is on a very steep mountain and it’s not a super wide road. We were stopped at the border and inspected for any agricultural products that weren’t allowed. The inspector was really nice and thankfully we didn’t have anything that needed to be confiscated.
We made it down the mountain with just enough gas to get to the RV park, successfully unhitch, and go get some gas. We’re staying at Pullen RV Park. The town is quite small and pretty much everything we need is within walking distance of Pullen RV Park. The guy working at the park was really friendly. The park was pretty full, but it was quiet (if you don’t count the cruise ships and trains within a stone’s throw.)
We had dinner and some beers at Skagway brewing. Our server, Spencer from Oregon, was great. The food was super tasty and the beer was very appreciated after traversing that mountain not knowing if we would have enough gas to make it. Spencer took such great care of us that we brought a Dagger Falls IPA from Sockeye to him as a thank you.

Bellies full, we headed back to the Airstream. We’re still confused about time zones and sunsets and sunrises, but it really doesn’t seem to be bothering us much.
Oh, did I mention Skagway is windy? Oh, it’s very windy….
